Welcome to the Essex Weather and Flood Forecasting Centre

At the Essex Weather and Flood Forecasting Centre we deliver comprehensive local forecasts and warnings specifically for the people of Essex. Our team gather data from weather stations on land and sea, satellites, radar and computer models so that we can produce the best possible forecast.

Detailed, unbiased weather and flood forecasts are available on our web site and on local radio stations across Essex. Updated twice daily, we provide coverage of 40 towns using high resolution output from both the Met Office and European (ECMWF) computer model. In fact, we are one of only three web sites in the United Kingdom using this method for public weather forecasting.

Follow the Essex Weather and Flood Forecasting Centre on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ as well as using the buttons at the bottom of each page to connect to our network of other social media.

Be Prepared: Our guide on preparing for severe weather is now available. Providing useful advice, emergency contact numbers and local radio stations. You can view 'Be Prepared' online or collect your free copy from selected libraries and travel information centres in Essex and East London.

Past Weather Data: Archived weather observations from Government weather stations across Essex since September 1990 can be found at Weather Source. We have also gathered complete rainfall records for some local districts going back to 1877.

Our office in South Woodham Ferrers is open to the public Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 4.45pm. Find us opposite The Oakland Hotel in the town centre.
